What is an Excision of Lipomas?
Lipomas are slow growing benign (noncancerous tumors) that occur as a result of overgrowth of fat cells. The fatty lump often lies just under the skin but may lie deeper under the muscle layer. They most commonly occur on the upper back, shoulders, arms and abdomen. Excision is usually performed for pain symptoms or when the size of the mass starts to affect activities of daily living.
